MY LIFE Comes to Circuit 7

In partnership with the System of Care and Magellan Health, SAYS Transitional Life Coaches are launching MY LIFE youth groups in Circuit 7 (St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia & Putnam counties).

Magellan Youth Leaders Inspiring Future Empowerment (MY LIFE) is helping to improve the lives of youth between the ages of 13 and 23 who are dealing with issues related to mental health, substance use, foster care and juvenile justice. MY LIFE gives youth the chance to become leaders in their communities. 

In March 2019, MY LIFE Volusia was launched and is lead by Circuit 7 Youth Coordinator, Jessica Dailey. (For more info contact Jessica: JessicaDailey@myflfamilies.com) Volusia MY LIFE takes place regularly at Hope Place & F.U.M.C.H. on Tuesday & Thursday evenings.

On June 6th, the St. Johns chapter of MY LIFE kicked off at St. Johns River State College. Local youth and area providers were invited to see firsthand what MY LIFE is all about and hear directly from MY LIFE founder, Greg DiCharry.

Attendees included St. Augustine Youth Services (youth and staff), Wendy Hinton (DCF), Heather Prince (System of Care), Magellan Health, Family Integrity Program, Flagler Health +, Jessica Dailey & the Volusia MY LIFE chapter, Adapt Behavioral, Big Brothers Big Sisters, SMA, Port in the Storm, the SJC School District, and more than 30 local youth.

Wendy spoke to the importance of providing MY LIFE and other safe spaces for youth in their communities to express themselves, create a peer support system, and be in control of their own lives. “Your life is only yours. The decisions you make should come from whats best for YOUR life.”

Youth were encouraged to identify issues and challenges they face in St. Johns County and potential ways that MY LIFE can help them. Several topics were named including bullying, homelessness, and child abuse.
